SFU Maternity: Kevin + Teresa

Sunday, March 4th, 2012

I’ve known Kevin and Teresa for many years now. They have been amazing friends and very dear to me over the duration of our friendship. When Teresa sent me a message to tell me she was pregnant, I couldn’t believe it! While I knew their plans for a family were just around the corner it was hard to imagine friends of mine, whom I was used to as boyfriend and girlfriend, become engaged, be part of their wedding party, help them move into their first own home, finally become parents.

Although the thought to me is mind-boggling, I have no doubting thoughts that Kevin and Teresa will be the best parents to their happy third. Kevin is and has always been a big hit with children especially his niece, Hannah. I can hardly wait until the two become three, and I can spoil their new addition with all sorts of gifts. It’s not every day that your good friends have a baby, and the first of your friends to do so! Having friends with babies is a concept I can’t even fathom. I can’t wait to experience it!

When I heard the news, I immediately offered to take some maternity photos for Kevin and Teresa. I didn’t know if anyone else had offered but I couldn’t pass up the chance to photograph two of my favourite people and their new happiness together as prospective parents. Teresa immediately picked the SFU campus. Teresa is currently attending her third set of classes at SFU working towards her Master’s Degree, while still teaching high school during her pregnancy, I might add. We found a few great little areas to take photos, Teresa leading us the entire way, including a spot on the roof of a building where Kevin was going to propose. Ill-fated plans ruined that attempt, but it still one of their favourite spots up Burnaby Mountain.

Kevin and Teresa are a great, comfortable couple. Always smiling at each other, laughing at each others funny faces, holding hands. I am so happy for them starting their new family, I can’t wait to meet the newest Liang!
